Passionate about Food, Travel, and Art

Dash of Soy was founded in 2019 by Elaine Sher, who left the corporate world after 20 years to pursue her passion for sharing healthy and delicious home-style Cantonese food inspired by her childhood, family, and travels. Born in Hong Kong, lived in Canada and USA for 30 years, and traveled solo to 50 countries, she has stories behind every dish. She is also an artist, creating beautifully illustrated recipes to make cooking more approachable and fun. Elaine is the new voice for Chinese cooking in Seattle. She teaches regularly at The Pantry, PCC Markets, and Book Larder. As of December 2022, Dash of Soy is committed to donating 10% of all fees collected to charities supporting womxn, minorities, and/or LGBTQIA+.

“Had Elaine as a teacher for my son's mochi cooking class. I found Elaine to be so incredibly patient, quick to help answer questions, stop to ensure that all questions were indeed answered and accounted for.” - Erick Martin (Aug 23, 2022)
