Vegan Hot Pot with Market Tour

Discover the art of hosting the ultimate Hot Pot Party, or Daa Bin Lou (打邊爐) in Cantonese, at home! Elevate your culinary skills in this immersive class where we'll unveil the secrets to a perfect hot pot gathering, from the essentials of shopping and prepping to mastering the etiquette of cooking and eating a communal feast. Our journey commences at the hidden gem Seattle Super Market, tucked away in the vibrant Beacon Hill neighborhood – your one-stop haven for all things hot pot from ingredients to table setup. You will leave this tour knowing exactly what you need to complete your home setup, the rules behind what ingredients to buy (versus not to buy) for Daa Bin Lou, and tips/tricks on how to easily up-level your hot pot game.

After our inspiring market tour, we return to Dash of Soy to craft not one, but two sensational homemade soup bases: the fiery Spicy Szechuan Mala (四川麻辣湯底) and the refreshing Fresh Young Coconut with Herbs (椰青紅棗枸杞湯底). Elaine will guide you through the art of creating The Extravagant Spread, beautifully showcasing an array of tantalizing tofu products, mushrooms, and fresh vegetables. Complete your hot pot experience with a medley of condiments, served as the building blocks of Three Types of Dipping Sauces. As the perfect companion to your hot pot, Elaine will share her mom's family recipe to the popular Iced Sour Plum Drink (冰鎮酸梅湯). Gluten-free version of this class is available as a private event.

This class will be taught by Elaine Sher, the founder of Dash of Soy Culinary School.
